Top Diet and Nutrition Mistake Women Should Avoid

“A calorie is a calorie” is common dietary slogan that is old news 👋🏽✌🏽

➡️ Unpopular Truth: both calories/quantity and quality matter.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when trying to eat healthier is they only focus on their total calorie intake, but do not pay attention to macro and micronutrients.

Portions definitely matter. But the quality is also KEY in order to achieve / maintain a healthy weight.

➡️ Why? It comes down to optimizing your physiology & hormones, to support overall HEALTH.

Rather than choosing foods based only on caloric value or labels like sugar, fat free etc.

Think instead about choosing high-quality, whole REAL foods.

➡️ My Functional Nutrition Philosophy:

Food has many roles: it is fuel and energy, information for our body & brain, medicine & has healing properties, and also a part of our culture, as a way to connect & share love with others.

Did you know that certain foods, while might be low calorie or have good macronutrients, can cause inflammation & stress in the body?
This stress can leave us feeling fatigued, moody, with digestive upset, and more.
Stress lowers metabolism.

Wait, isn’t that the exact opposite of what we want from our nutrition choices?!

➡️The difference in looking at macros & higher quality foods is better nutrients, meaning = better cell function, more support for hormones, and generally tastes a lot better too!

What can you start to do? Feel free to check out my other posts on nutrition, specifically this one (click here!) can help you with the basics of quality nutrition!

Make better choices when you can, this could be a seemingly small thing that moves the needle forward with how you feel and how your body functions!
