Lifestyle Strategies to Help Balance Your Hormones

Here in this article and the video below I go over the fundamentals of how to start balancing your hormones!

Remember (and Disclaimer!) There is no one size fits all when it comes to (hormone) health and healing. I am not a licensed medical professional and I am here to provide education and support. This should not be taken as medical advice and you should consult with your health care provider if certain tactics are best for you.

Most people miss the BASICS of health when they are balancing their hormones. Most women will gravitate towards the latest pill, supplement, diet etc. I go over this in my article that you can read here: “Hormone Dos and Don’ts”.

Remember the 3 Fundamentals: Eat, Move and Think.

EAT: Our nutrition has a huge impact on how we look, feel and function. What we eat directly impacts our hormones!

Top Mistake: Relying on packaged items and consuming inflammatory, processed foods that are leaving us TOXIC from the inside out.

First Step: Keep it simple and start swapping in QUALITY foods! This means choosing organic meats and produce, sticking to whole foods, and avoiding the top inflammatory ingredients like processed sugars, gluten, dairy and artificial sweeteners and additives.

MOVE: Our bodies are designed to move on a daily basis!

Top Mistake: Having extremes with their movement, either being completely sedentary or OVER-exercising without a balanced approach.

First Step: Focus on overall movement EVERY DAY, by standing, moving and walking more throughout the day. From there, re-assess your exercise program to have a balanced approach between strength training, “smart cardio” and recovery.

THINK: Our mindset (our thoughts, attitudes and mentality) is directly related to your physical health. STRESS in all forms will down-regulate and disrupt our hormones.

Top Mistake: Having an extreme all or nothing, “perfectionist” mentality with results, while also having negative self talk. Many are doing with subconsciously

First Step: Pause and Re-Frame your Mindset! It is time to acknowledge the voice inside your head and if you are setting yourself up with unrealistic expectations.

Use mantras, affirmations and positive self talk to help stay motivated, accountable and minimizing stress.

With all of my clients, we set multiple types of goals; those that are focused on long term results (i.e. balanced hormones, optimal lab work, pregnancy or weight loss) but also small weekly and monthly outcomes that celebrate the “wins” along the way (like more energy, sex drive, better hair skin and nails etc!)
