PNOĒ Breath Analysis Metabolic Testing is a non-invasive, clinical grade health assessment for measuring your metabolism, oxygen efficiency, and real-time caloric needs. It gives you personalized data (23 biomarkers!) assessing your current health, plus provides starting lifestyle, nutrition & exercise recommendations, so you can get better results, faster!
Let’s break down what exactly the two types of tests available – who they are for, what they measure & information they provide, and frequently asked questions.
There are 2 types of the PNOĒ Breath Analysis: Resting and Active.
Resting Metabolic Test:
During a simple 10–12 minute test, you’ll lay or sit comfortably, and breathe into a mask while your body’s oxygen consumption (VO₂) and carbon dioxide production (VCO₂) are measured. From there, you’ll receive a clear, personalized report outlining your metabolic rate, ideal training zones, fuel utilization (fat vs. carbs), and nutrition recommendations tailored specifically to your unique physiology! Below is a sample page of one of the markers it measures.
The PNOĒ Resting Metabolic Test is ideal if you:
- Feel “stuck” despite dieting and exercising
- Want to know your true metabolic rate and caloric needs
- Are working to lose fat without damaging your metabolism
- Want to enhance endurance, strength, or sport performance
- Struggle with fatigue, plateaus, or inconsistent results
- Value data-driven coaching and personalized programming
What you’ll gain:
- Your actual resting metabolic rate
- Personalized nutrition and macro targets
- Heart rate and training zones specific to your body
- Insight into lung, heart, and cellular efficiency
- A customized plan, not guesswork
Active VO2 Max Testing
With PNOĒ VO₂max testing, you get a precise measurement of how efficiently your body uses oxygen during exercise, which is the ultimate indicator of cardiovascular fitness, mitochondrial function, and metabolic health.
During the test, intensity gradually increases while your breathing, heart response, and oxygen utilization are measured. This identifies your true VO₂max: this clear data that tells you exactly how to train smarter, live longer, and perform better.
Why VO₂max matters for longevity?
The higher your VO₂max, the healthier and more capable your body tends to remain as you age. It’s often called the “fitness biomarker of longevity.”
VO₂max testing helps you:
- Identify precise aerobic and anaerobic thresholds
- Optimize endurance, pace, and race strategy
- Personalize heart-rate and zone-based training
- Improve recovery and prevent overtraining
- Maximize fat utilization versus carbohydrate dependence
Instead of guessing your “zones,” you’ll train with data tailored to your physiology, which will accelerate results while reducing plateaus and injuries.
The Vo2max test is perfect for:
- If you want to lose body fat & preserve muscle by using Zone Training
- Endurance athletes (running, cycling, triathlon)
- Recreational athletes wanting faster progress
- Individuals focused on healthy aging and longevity
- Anyone curious about their true cardiovascular fitness
The PNOĒ Breath Analysis Metabolic Testing turns confusing symptoms and stalled progress into clear, actionable insight, so you can train smarter, fuel appropriately, see increases in your fitness and performance, and finally achieve results that last!
